Privacy Policy

Symetrec is the professional credentialing and standards body for the human-AI era. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We wrote this in plain language because that is how we think policies should be written.

Information We Collect

Authentication is handled through LinkedIns OpenID Connect protocol. We do not store passwords. We receive and store: your LinkedIn member ID, name, email address, profile photo URL, and locale, as provided by LinkedIn during sign-in.

You can optionally add a public LinkedIn vanity URL to your profile so it can be displayed on your credential page; this is the only profile field you control directly.

When you attempt a Flux Challenge, we collect:

  • Your submission URL and GitHub repository link
  • Your written narrative
  • Your timestamped work log (Flux-5 only)
  • Which AI tools you used during the challenge

We also collect standard usage data: pages visited, time on site, device type, and browser. This is used to improve the platform, not to profile you.

How We Use It

We use your data to:

  • Operate your Symetrec account and manage your credentials
  • Generate and score Flux Challenge problems
  • Issue, verify, and display your Flux credentials
  • Communicate with you about your account, attempts, and credentials
  • Improve the Flux Standard and the platform

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build behavioral profiles. We do not sell access to your information.

AI Processing

When you submit a Flux Challenge, your submission is processed by Anthropic's Claude API for scoring. This means your submission URL, GitHub repository link, and written narrative are sent to Anthropic's API for evaluation.

Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models. Your submission data is processed according to Anthropic's standard API terms and is not retained by Anthropic beyond what is necessary to process the request.

Your scores, dimension breakdowns, and the scoring rationale are stored in the Symetrec database and are visible to you in your dashboard.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. Period.

What is public:

  • If you pass a Flux Challenge, your name, LinkedIn URL, tier, domain track, issue date, and credential status are displayed on your public credential page at symetrec.org/credential/{slug}. These pages are publicly accessible to enable third-party verification by employers and other parties.

What may be published in aggregate:

  • Anonymized pass/fail rates by tier
  • Aggregate AI tool usage data (which tools candidates use, not which tools you specifically used)
  • General statistics about the Flux Standard and its adoption

No individual submission content, scores, or narratives are shared publicly unless you choose to share them yourself.

Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Your credential records are retained permanently -- that is the point of a credential registry.

If you want to delete your account and all associated data, email legal@symetrec.org. We will process your request within 30 days. Note that deleting your account will revoke all active credentials.
