Flux-5 Certification

Architect. The highest tier in the Flux Standard.

~0.05% of candidates pass -- approximately 1 in 2,000

Flux-5 is the hardest Flux certification to earn. Few have the breadth of strategic, technical, and judgment capability required. Like every Flux credential at Flux-1 and above, Flux-5 maintains via Flux Education Units over a 24-month window. Earn it. Maintain it. Or it expires.

What Flux-5 certifies

The problem beneath the problem.

The Flux-5 challenge is a 12-hour venture launch. You will build a venture-ready company from scratch -- live product or service, go-to-market foundation, financial model with bear/base/bull scenarios, and an investor-ready pitch. No incorporation required. Everything else is real.

But the venture launch is not what makes Flux-5 hard. What makes it hard is the evaluation criteria. The scoring engine evaluates not just what you built -- but whether you identified the unstated constraints, second-order risks, and market dynamics that were not in the brief. Most candidates solve the problem as written. Flux-5 Architects solve the problem beneath the problem.

The velocity signal dimension is weighted at 20% at Flux-5 -- higher than any other tier. It is not just speed. It is strategic sequencing. The submission package must include a timestamped work log. The scoring engine evaluates whether you front-loaded the decisions that unblock everything else, or whether you thrashed.

This is also what it looks like to be handed a blank mandate inside a Fortune 500 and told to build a new product line alone. The Flux-5 Architect operates at enterprise scale. The problem will reflect it.

Flux-5 is the apex of the Flux Standard. It is calibrated to a 0.05 percent pass rate -- roughly 1 in 2,000 attempts -- and its scoring rubric is the reference against which every lower tier is anchored. There is no higher tier.

SAMPLE PROBLEM
Flux-5 -- Venture Launch

The clinical mental health market is fragmented, underserved at the mid-market level, and structurally resistant to technology adoption. Independent therapists and small group practices (2-10 clinicians) are drowning in administrative work, losing 40% of their billable hours to scheduling, documentation, and insurance processing. Large EHR vendors serve hospital systems. Consumer apps serve patients. Nobody serves the independent clinician at the practice level. You have 12 hours. Launch a venture-ready company. Live product or service. Go-to-market foundation. Financial model with bear/base/bull scenarios. Investor-ready pitch. Timestamped work log required. No incorporation required. Everything else is real. The scoring engine will evaluate what you did not address as carefully as what you did.

What Flux-5 evaluates beyond the rubric

The scoring engine is instructed to evaluate: (1) Whether you identified constraints not stated in the brief. (2) Whether your sequencing reflects understanding of what unblocks what. (3) Whether your financial model stress-tests its own assumptions. (4) Whether your narrative reads as an investor memo, an operating plan, and a risk register simultaneously. (5) Whether the live product is genuinely functional -- not a prototype, not a landing page with fake features. Real data flow. Real user path. Real value delivery.

Frequently asked questions
Who should attempt Flux-5?

Anyone who has reached the apex of the ladder -- you must hold an active Flux-4 credential to attempt Flux-5. A Spacer who reaches Flux-5 has already demonstrated capability at five lower levels. Even then: 0.05% of candidates pass. If 10,000 Flux-4 Masters attempt Flux-5, approximately 5 will pass. The challenge is designed to be that hard. The credential is designed to mean that much.

What is the timestamped work log?

A record of what you did and when -- submitted as part of your narrative package. It does not need to be elaborate. A simple log of major decisions and actions with timestamps is sufficient. The scoring engine uses it to evaluate strategic sequencing -- whether you made the right decisions in the right order.

How rigorous is the Flux-5 scoring bar?

Flux-5 has the highest pass threshold in the Flux Standard -- 88/100 -- and is calibrated to a 0.05 percent pass rate. The scoring engine evaluates not only the work submitted, but whether the candidate identified constraints, second-order risks, and market dynamics that were not stated in the brief. Most candidates solve the problem as written. Flux-5 candidates solve the problem beneath the problem.

What happens if I don't earn enough FEUs to renew Flux-5?

If you don't earn the required 20 FEUs within your 24-month renewal window, the Flux-5 credential is demoted by one tier. Demotion does not erase the credential from your record -- it remains visible as an expired credential -- but the active credential drops to Flux-4. You can immediately re-attempt Flux-5 with no cooldown, since demotion is the result of expired maintenance, not a failed attempt.

Can I attempt Flux-5 if I have never attempted any other Flux tier?

Flux-5 is the apex. The path requires earning every prior tier in sequence -- Flux-0 through Flux-4. A Spacer who reaches Flux-5 has already demonstrated capability at five lower levels. The 12-hour challenge then evaluates what they produce.
